Against Mihawk, there should've been at least an Admiral there, given the fact Mihawk is around the level of Emperor. Sending a team led by Coby against Hancock was such a huge mistake when against someone with one of the most powerful fruits in the verse, and all 3 types of haki. That would allow him to blind side them under the guise of marines being an ally of the warlords, and cuffing them with seastone before they realised. What he should've done is gone for the Warlords immediately, before word got out about the abolishment. These things were entirely in his control as a Fleet Admiral, even if the Reverie decision wasn't. (1) Allowing the reverie news to be announced before going after the Warlords, and (2) Not sending adequate forces to take them down. Now, where he messed up in a huge way was how he dealt with it.

My bet is he always wanted to get rid of them even before the Reverie took place. The only thing here is that maybe the reverie decision forced his hand earlier than he wanted. He had no trust in them, he didn't want to rely on them and get backstabbed the way all these Shichibukai were abusing their positions for their own ends. He wanted to nail the lot of them to the wall, Warlords included. I think you're wrong there, because Akainu was the #1 marine opposing all pirates. Fujitora and Greenbull were appointed after his promotion to Fleet Admiral. As fleet admiral, if he can't keep his subordinates in check and make them do what he asks of them, he's not doing his job well. I think this makes him a bad fleet admiral though. It’s not his fault that the people around him are incompetent. Him not getting involved in many global affairs is probably for the best given what the other admirals have done when they do. He was against getting involved in BB vs Law in favor of going after the Strawhats and Vegapunk He didn’t care about the holy land being destroyed, GB and Fuji did and let the revolutionaries escape He was against going into wano due to to many unknown factors, Kizaru listened to him and Greenbull didnt He was against the abolishment of the warlord system, the reverie went against him He was against letting Law and Luffy go after the events of dressrosa, Fujitora ignored him He was against lying about Doffy’s warlord status to the public, the gorosei overrode him He’s been an objectively good fleet admiral and has made sound and measured decisions yet has been basically undermined by both his subordinates and higher ups at every turn.īasically every failure of the navy has been the gorosei, Greenbull, and Fujitora’s fault:
